Walks from Trethem Mill St Just-in-Roseland At the Park entrance turn left and walk up the lane to the last house “Higher Trethem” on the right-hand side. Take the public footpath signposted on the opposite side of the road and follow it through the next 4 fields. When you meet back with the road turn left and walk into the village. For the Church and boatyard walk through the village to the main road (A3078) and take the 1st road on your right, signposted the Church & Bar. Alternatively, when you walk into the village take the footpath to your right, signposted just after the first houses. Following the footpath brings you down to the creek side of the Church. Walk through the Churchyard for access to the boatyard and water. Approx 1 mile St Mawes Follow the directions to St Just-in-Roseland village, walk past the Church and down to the boatyard. At the bottom of the hill stop at the sharp right-hand corner, turn left and walk past the houses to pick up the public footpath. Follow through to St Mawes where the path ends at St Mawes Castle. Approx 3.5 miles Portscatho & Gerrans At the Park entrance turn right and walk to the bottom of the lane. Cross the main road and walk to the left side of the stone bridge where the public footpath is signposted. Walk up the hill and follow the path over the next 3 fields. When you meet back with the road turn right, walk past the right-hand turning to Lanhay and continue until you reach a t-junction. Turn left and immediately right for Porthcurnick beach/Portscatho or turn right to walk into Gerrans/Portscatho. Alternatively at the Lanhay junction turn right and pick up the footpath just a few yards in on your left. Follow across the fields until you reach Gerrans. Approx 2 miles Messack Point – National Trust At the Park entrance turn left, walk to the top of the lane and turn right onto the B3289 road. Walk along the road to the first turn on your left by the house with blue paintwork and a post box in the wall. Walk along this road until you reach the sign that says “Private Road” to Commerrans farm. This is the start of Messack Point and directions are shown for the circular walk that is approximately 2 miles. Please note that cycling is not allowed on the Point. Approx 1.75 miles from Trethem to the start of the walk Alternatively: At the Park entrance turn left and walk up the lane to the last house “Higher Trethem” on the right-hand side. Take the public footpath signposted on the opposite side of the road and follow it through the next 4 fields. When you meet back with the road turn right, walk approx 150 yds and you will see the start of a footpath on your left by the house “Penpol”. Take the footpath and follow down through the fields. At the bottom of the hill cross over the stream and go straight on to join the circular walk. Alternatively, turn left at the bottom of the hill to walk to St Just Church. Approx 1.25 miles from Trethem to the stream Or: At the Park entrance turn left and walk to the top of the lane. When you reach the t-junction turn left and walk along the road until you reach the house “Penpol” on your right where you can pick up the start of the footpath
Follow the directions
to Messack Point until you reach the start of the circular walk. Please note
that if you have taken the alternative route to Messack you need to cross
over the stream, keep to the right and continue up the hill until you reach
the road. Turn left/continue walking down the “Private Road” to Commerrans
Farm until you reach the parking spaces. Go through the gate, follow the
path down until you reach the shingle beach and the footpaths that wind
through the woods. Approx 2.5 miles |
