Electric hook-up for tents
This can be confusing as there are several options and prices for the equipment needed. This information is intended for those who want some basic guidance on electric hook-ups (EHUs)

An EHU unit should consist of:
A distribution box with a transparent window housing a 10amp double pole MCB (Miniature Circuit Breaker) and 25amp RCD (Residual Current Device). This should be in an integral housing and physically protected to a minimum of IP44. This is connected to a cable with a BS EN 60309-2 plug (Commando Type) at the opposite end
Power Pac EHUs are sold as complete units at most reputable camping outlets and are available with either single or triple socket outlets. You should expect to pay about £60.00 for the triple unit. Do not attempt to make your own unless you are suitably qualified to do so and fully understand the technical implications

You should also purchase appliances designed for camping use as it is not advisable to use normal household appliances
